Season of Gratitude
Thank you, essential workers!
It was an unparalleled pleasure to show our gratitude to Calgary's essential workers by having you as our guests in the 2021-22 season. Across all the resident companies of Arts Commons - including Alberta Theatre Projects, Arts Commons Presents, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Downstage, One Yellow Rabbit, and Theatre Calgary - thank you for sharing laughter, tears, and everything in between with us.
Thank you.
About the Program
As an essential worker, you’ve selflessly placed the needs of your fellow Calgarians above your own. Whether on the front lines providing medical care during the pandemic or in the background keeping the city’s services functioning, everyone in the Arts Commons family wanted you to know that you were seen and that we were beyond grateful.
To show this, we created the Season of Gratitude program.
With the backing of a generous donation from the Rodney & Karen McCann Family, shows from our resident companies’ 2021-22 seasons provided free tickets to those who self-defined as essential workers and their families.
Yes, self-defined: we didn't want to tell you who was and wasn't "essential." Whether a nurse, a city services worker, a server at a restaurant, or a pharmacy employee—you decided if this program was for you.
Qualifying productions for Season of Gratitude came from across the Arts Commons ecosystem, including our six resident companies:
- Alberta Theatre Projects
- Arts Commons Presents series: BD&P World Stage, TD Jazz, PCL Blues, National Geographic Live and Classic Albums Live
- Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra
- Downstage
- One Yellow Rabbit
- Theatre Calgary
Season of Gratitude was made possible by the generous support of the Rodney & Karen McCann Family along with support of our Founders Circle and Explorers Circle members.
