Established in 2000, with the support of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP, BD&P World Stage ensures a diversity of talent, art forms, and cultural representation is available to Calgary audiences. Relying only on the music, using what Canadian founder Craig Martin refers to as "the world's best musicians," Classic Albums Live has defined itself as a mainstay in performing arts centres across North America since its inception in 2003. This highly entertaining concert series evokes memories of our youth, whether it is reliving a stellar concert experience or recreating the feeling of picking through your milk-crated record collection, like you were mining for musical gold. Classic Albums Live performances bring fans from all walks of life, from boomers to zoomers, to experience their favourite album or band in the acoustically pristine Jack Singer Concert Hall.
Our newest concert series premiered with us in 2018. Its success can be measured by the massive smiles on the faces of our audience members and the high subscription rate. Some of the albums already featured have included: Fleetwood Mac: Rumours; The Beatles: Abbey Road; Supertramp: Crime of the Century; Led Zeppelin: IV; and AC/DC: Back in Black.
Through the power of visual and verbal storytelling, National Geographic Live illuminates the wonders of our world and inspires us to protect it. Together, Arts Commons Presents and National Geographic provide the opportunity to gain perspective and understanding, leading us to empathy and hope.
Since 2011, this partnership has welcomed over 65 Explorers to share their stories with Calgary audiences from the stunning Jack Singer Concert Hall stage. When you attend a National Geographic Live event, you help further the work of National Geographic Explorers, scientists, and educators around the world.
With each performance themed and curated by a Calgary artist with an undeniable vision and authentic voice, the TD Amplify series amplifies the stories of those members of our creative community who have been historically underrepresented. Tailored to curious audiences hungry to experience something new and discover their next favourite, TD Amplify provide a platform for new ideas and performances by artists ready to reveal and celebrate their true selves.
