Learn, absorb, and explore – in a summer drama camp for teachers!

Over the course of three days, this Summer Master Class for educators, with a focus in the dramatic arts, will guide you through a process for instigating curricular inquiry through verbal and non-verbal theatre genres. You will learn how to create experiential learning centered on performance, text and dialogue, imaginative play, and collaborative theatre creation, in order to highlight inquiry-based learning.

Program objectives include:

  • Utilizing drama to create an agile, collaborative learning environment in your classroom.
  • Activating student understanding and perspectives on curriculum through non-traditional forms of theatre.
  • Building an artistic practice into your everyday classroom through the process of creating an original performance.

Art is a way to explore and connect with the world around you. . Whether you’re an educator with roots already in drama and theatre, or have always wanted to enrich your own exposure to the dramatic arts, Education at Arts Commons invites you to discover new ways to engage students in curriculum, new ways to foster and deepen connections between students in the classroom, and new ways to inspire you individually to feed your own passion for the arts.

  • Please note the 2019 Master Class has been cancelled, but will be offered in August 2020. We hope you will join us throughout the year for more arts centred professional development through our system PD day workshops and 2020 Teachers’ Convention workshops.

  • $450 for 3-day intensive (either dates)
