Hip Hip Thursday formed at the Alcove Centre for the Arts as a cooperative of 6 musicians who met at the weekly jams on (you guessed it) Thursdays. The resulting project maintained a creative space to speak truth to power and as a band they reflect the diversity of talents Moh’kins’tsis has to offer.

Hip Hip Thursday blends the rich, improvisational essence of jazz with the rhythmic, lyrical, and cultural depth of hip hop in a 6 piece arrangement. This fusion allows us to create a unique soundscape that honors the traditions of both genres while charting new creative territories with influences of funk, indie, and rock. Our music is not just about sound but about storytelling, emotion, and connection to important events and realities of the world around us.
