Olamide Adedipe
Artist Statement
My love for the city of Calgary has inspired my work. This place we all call home has given me so much and it’s time to give back. Calgary is a green city, and is depicted as such in this oil painting, from the sky to below soil level, this is my view of Calgary.
The soil in the glass tries to speak about the life other smaller animals will have underground if, eventually, we destroy our own world.
The lamp has been built from sustainably sourced wood in the province of Alberta. Oak and spruce are the toes of wood in the making of this lamp. The artist tries to emphasize sustainability in this work of art by using cool colours.
