Learn & Engage

Arts Commons is passionate about the arts as a powerful tool for enriching learning and inspiring people of all ages to meaningfully engage with the world around them. Education at Arts Learning creates memorable educational opportunities through multi-disciplinary programming that supports over 12,000 students, teachers, and education professionals each year by teaching core subjects through the arts.

Our National Geographic Live student presentations introduce students to powerful stories and learning moments, presented by the National Geographic Explorers themselves. The ConocoPhillips Hub for Inspired Learning makes key curriculum connections guided by actors, writers, musicians, and other professional artists using Arts Commons as the classroom. One Day Arts School invites students into Arts Commons for a field trip in learning through the arts.

Arts Commons also works directly with teachers through professional development to mentor and inspire their professional skills, guiding them through using new and innovative ways to work with their students. For students and teachers who live and work outside of the Calgary area, Arts Commons also offers artist-in-residence to bring arts-based learning directly into their classrooms.

Arts Commons ensures that educators have the artistic tools to inspire, and children have the creativity to connect, invent, and collaborate. This fosters a future that is bright with the inspiration and passion found in a life rich with arts, culture, and community. We are proud that Arts Commons is a leader in artistic excellence, and a space for Calgarians to connect, create, and explore.
