Happenings 12

Arts Commons Presents
Happenings 12: Colour and Whimsy

Monday, May 14, 2018 from 6-9pm

Happenings 12 at Arts Commons is an experimental art party filled with new exhibitions, installations, live performances, and musical projects in celebration of our current visual art exhibitors. For this Happenings event “Whimsy and Play” inspires conversations about youth and family, and experimental art collisions. If you love the art of abstraction, vibrant colours, and sculpture, then come to Happenings - where art is never flat!

WE ARE CELEBRATING THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS WHO ARE EXHIBITING IN ARTS COMMONS GALLERIES:

Jillian Daschuk (Ledge Gallery), Darija s.Radakovic, Carrie Phillips Kieser, Mikhail Miller and Rachel Ziriada, Anna Burger Martindale (Window Galleries), Scott Portingale, Melanie Kloetzel and John Osborne (Broadcast Lab), Rachel ZwambagKristine Zingeler and Scott Ross Molyneux (Lightbox Studio) and Tona Ohama (+15 Soundscape).

Reading with Royalty - Enjoy a story with our visiting royals Slamda BD and the Marvelous Mo B Dick. Reading with Royalty celebrates diversity and encourages people to look beyond gender stereotypes and embrace exploration of self. In programs like this, participants are able to see people who interpret gender and imagine a colourful world where people can express their identity freely. @calgarypride

James Jordan, Comedy Magician - Two circus schools, 3 theatre companies and a life time of street performance later James was finally ready to be the vaudevillian he always wanted to be. Bad news, Vaudeville has been dead for 50 years. The only way to reach his life-long dream was to create his own show – come and find James roving around Happenings throughout the evening! @JJordanmagic

Calgary International Children’s Festival - Discover Yourself in Nature!

Patrick Moskwa - Calgary-based visual artist and instructor will be showing us how to transform an ordinary rock into a work of art.
