Let loose with your little one at Itty Bitty Arts Day: a Teddy Bear Picnic, an open-house art-party for the very young. Babies, toddlers and young children explore an immersive forest environment complete with theatre, music, dance, and art activities, providing everything you need to play, learn, and explore together. Complete with picnic blanket seating, bring your favorite plushie or teddy bear, some nut-free snacks, a cute costume, and enjoy short performances, interactive workshops and lots of crafting and creative play.

Take a break in our relaxing family lounge with sensory experiences for babies and toddlers, and all the amenities you’ll need to feel at home with your infants and young children. Hosted by your friends at Arts Commons and a couple of singing, dancing Teddy Bears!

There are two chances to take part in Itty Bitty Arts Day: A Teddy Bear Picnic

Morning Picnic:
9:30 AM Doors open and crafts begin
10:15 AM – 11:30 AM Interactive workshops and performances begin
12:00 PM Itty Bitty Arts Day: A Teddy Bear Picnic ends.

Afternoon Picnic:
1:30 PM Doors open and crafts begin
2:15 PM – 3:30 PM Interactive workshops and performances begin
4:00 PM Itty Bitty Arts Day: A Teddy Bear Picnic ends

Families are welcome to arrive anytime during their picnic and take breaks in the family lounge as needed during the picnic. Oh, and free valet stroller parking is available when you arrive.

To make planning your trip a bit easier, the most convenient parking can be found in the Arts Commons Parkade or across the street in the City Hall Parkade (attached by a +15 with an elevator). Arts Commons is also easily accessible by Calgary Transit (the C-Train is a block away) and the Centre City Cycle Track Network (there are bike racks out front of each entrance on 8th Ave SE).

Completed in 1994 the Engineered Air Theatre carries on the tradition of having a theatre located in its exact location for over 100 years, even incorporating rescued decorative elements from the old Empress Theatre into both its theatre and lobby design. In the summer of 2016, the Engineered Air had a face lift with the comfier chairs and updated décor.
