我的名字是张欣恩 (Gimme Chance Leh)
Chromatic Theatre is proud to present 我的名字是张欣恩 (Gimme Chance Leh) written and performed by Kris Vanessa Teo and directed by Jenna Rodgers.
Born in Canada and raised in Singapore, local playwright Kris Vanessa Teo explores her for identity and search for belonging in her new Canadian play我的名字是张欣恩 (Gimme chance leh)’. Using Mandarin, English and Singlish, she navigates the two wildly different cultures she was brought up in, to come face to face with the stereotypes that have been placed upon her. Using heartfelt storytelling, humour and a touch of sass, Kris tackles beauty standards, the fear of “foreignness” and her own complicity within the power structures she feels stifled within.
