Harvey Nichol

Artist Biography
Harvey Nichol is a Manila-born, Calgary-based multidisciplinary artist known for his unique blend of neo-expressionism, folk, and street art, which he calls social-folk-expressionism. His work often explores themes of identity, migration, and community. Harvey’s projects include the creation of Aklas, his indie comic book, which merges visual storytelling with cultural exploration. He has also contributed to various public art initiatives, including a 90’ x 30’ collaborative mural with Tiffany Cuffley at Vivo Centre, in partnership with the Parks Foundation and the City of Calgary. His work has been featured at BUMP Festival, including a mural at Marlborough Train Station. Harvey’s practice extends beyond 2D work. He recently completed a 9-foot tall sculpture as part of his 315 Residency with Brookfield Properties and Calgary Arts Development, which will tour downtown Calgary throughout 2025 continues to merge visual storytelling with cultural exploration. His multidisciplinary approach allows him to bring diverse narratives to public spaces, engaging a wide audience. Harvey actively engages with communities, ensuring his designs reflect collective input while honoring cultural traditions.
