ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Isis Horne Hill is a Print Media BFA graduate of 2024 from Alberta University of the Arts from Treaty 7 Territory. While at AUArts, Isis was a co-director of the student run Galerie Gaulin from 2021- 2024, participated in student exhibitions, as well as Alberta Printmakers Second Pressing collaborative exhibition.  In their work, Isis uses surreal illustrated prints, light/shadow, and sculpture, to reflect on their lived experiences and memory informed by their Scandinavian and Kanienkeha:ka/Cree/Metis heritage.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Isis Horne Hill is an interdisciplinary artist who uses print media, illustration, and sculpture to explore intangible experiences such as memory and emotion. Using surreal and symbolic illustrations informed by their Scandinavian and Kanien'keha heritage, they create visual narratives to document their lived experiences. Her work is a record of how memory and experience marks the psyche and impacts their present within colonial structures. Their goal is to use their story to open conversation of silenced experiences.
