ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Marley Tahize HeavyShield is a Blackfoot (Kainaiwa) artist and writer who specializes in semi-abstract/geometric multimedia art and poetry. Taking inspiration from their Blackfoot culture and family, land and relationships are common themes in Marley’s work.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

My art, regardless of medium/method/etc, has been a way for me to process our world. There are times when the art finds me, and I am merely a vessel for it to pass through. My hope is that those who experience my art are able to connect it to their own process of living, whatever that looks like.

Na’ahsiks are my art, and my art is for them.
