ARTIST STATEMENT:

My name is Allan Brent Rosales and my pronouns are he/him.

I am a second-gen Filipino settler and I identify as Filipinx, which is an uncommon inclusive and controversial term used by Filipino folks born or living in diaspora. My parents immigrated to Turtle Island/Canada separately in the 1960's and 1970's, met in rural Alberta, and started a family together in Moh'kinsstsis/Calgary.

I was born and raised in Moh'kinsstsis/Calgary. This is my home. I acknowledge that I am doing my best to learn what it means to be a Treaty Person and decolonize my Artist practice. Additionally, I am an also an Art Therapist and I currently work as an Arts Administrator.
