Tipi Raising

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, you are invited to join Garret C. Smith and his Family, in partnership with Arts Commons, to raise a tipi together at Olympic Plaza. Tipi raising is an essential part of many First Nations cultures across Turtle Island. The Blackfoot utilize methods that begin with four poles, while other Nations use three.

Once the tipi has been raised, Elders will share a series of stories in the spirit of cultural sharing. This is a free event and we encourage you to RSVP so that we may best welcome you.  

Join us as we learn this and other teachings at Olympic Plaza on June 21, 2024 from approximately 11:00am – 1:00pm. We’ll see you there!
