Arts Commons Presents:
The loose and free blues of R.L. Boyce.

CALGARY – Hill Country blues musician R. L. Boyce polished his craft in the juke joints and porches of the southern U.S., fostering a loose and free style that is at once improvisation, meditative – and toe-tappingly groovy.

Arts Commons PCL Blues series brings Boyce to the Engineered Air Theatre on Sept. 21 & 22, 2018, for two nights of music that’s sure to entice and excite.

Widely recognized as a Mississippi Hill Country blues master, Boyce earned a GRAMMY nod for Best Traditional Blues album with his latest joint, Roll and Tumble, released on the acclaimed Waxploitation Records. Boyce is the first hand protégé to Fred McDowell, JR Kimbrough, and RL Burnside, exemplifying rhythmic, Hill Country blues.

This seasoned bluesman has earned a strong enough reputation that he was featured in Martin Scorsese’s The Blues: A Musical Journey documentary. Don’t miss your chance to see this legend in person.
