Arts Commons Presents:
Jazz legend David Sanborn

CALGARY – David Sanborn is a jazz legend. He’s won six GRAMMY awards, recorded on platinum and eight gold albums, with a collection of original music spanning 24 records.

Kicking off the 2018-19 Arts Commons Presents: TD Jazz season, Sanborn performs at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on Oct. 18, 2018, with his quintet

Sanborn released his first solo album Taking Off in 1975, but has been playing the saxophone since before he was in high school when he was inspired by the great Chicago blues artists near his hometown of St. Louis.

Sanborn has toured with Stevie Wonder and The Rolling Stones, collaborated with such artists as Paul Simon and James Taylor, and is also behind the unforgettable solo heard on David Bowie’s Young Americans. He was also the host of the Lorne Michaels produced television show, Night Music, from 1988 to 1990, which featured jazz legends like Thelonious Monk, Dave Brubeck, and Billie Holiday.

Don’t miss the chance to see the David Sanborn Jazz Quintet live and experience an artist who pushes the limits and continues to make music that challenges the mind and goes Straight to The Heart.
