Arts Commons Presents: The Floppy Glamour Cabaret
CALGARY – Join Arts Commons Presents for an evening of camp, comedy, and controversy with The Floppy Glamour Cabaret on Friday, November 22 & Saturday, November 23 in the Engineered Air Theatre.
The Floppy Glamour: It’s Better Not to Ask Questions Cabaret is the first of the new 2019-20 Amplify Cabaret Series. Hosted by Raven Virginia, known for her burlesque, clown and drag performance, this Las Vegas Burlesque Hall of Fame recipient promises an evening of sexy absurdity.
Prepare to have your expectations challenged by a diverse selection of artists who perform on the fringes of their practice, bringing new perspectives, connections, and collaborations to the comfortable cabaret setting of the Engineered Air Theatre. Expect casual collisions of artists, ideas, and audiences.
"Burlesque, drag, clown, satire, and farce, all derive from the same background. Floppy Glamour aims to showcase the unbridled creativity of Alberta's best alternative artists, and highlight how these artistic siblings will create a night of wonder, delight, and salacious entertainment," says Raven Virginia, who is also curator and creator of Floppy Glamour.
The Floppy Glamour Cabaret features performances by: Ali DeRegt, Beau Creep, Chad Bryant, Oliver Twirl, and Valerie Hunt.
