Arts Commons Presents: Multi-talented Alvin Youngblood Hart Strums with Soul

CALGARY – Multi-award winning guitarist Alvin ‘Youngblood’ Hart is a musician’s musician, a master of guitar, banjo, and mandolin, with the admiration of industry giants such as Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton.

“When I was a 15 year old kid in my room, I would never believe that I would someday play legendary venues like the Hollywood Bowl or Royal Albert Hall,” says Hart. “You couldn’t have told me that I’d be in the studio with Taj Mahal, or play onstage with the Allman Bros. Band and members of Thin Lizzy. Some days, it’s a dream job…”

His early successes categorize him as an acoustic blues musician, but Hart consistently demonstrates that as an artist he is beyond classification. In 2002, he won a GRAMMY Award for his work on Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster. His music has been featured on the movie soundtracks of Black Snake Moan and The Great Debaters, and he has personally made multiple film appearances including Martin Scorsese's film series The Blues.

After two decades on the road, and five albums, and multiple music awards, he is unquestionably a blues force to be reckoned with. To watch him perform, click here.
