Arts Commons Presents: The Queen of Detroit Blues – Thornetta Davis

CALGARY – It’s easy to see why Thornetta Davis is commonly called the Queen of Detroit’s Blues. Her stellar voice has earned her over 30 Detroit Music Awards, famous appearances at Lillith Fair and Madison Square Garden with Kid Rock, and put her on stage opening for some of the biggest names in the business including Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, and Buddy Guy, performing with an incredible delivery that leaves her audiences wanting more.

In two decades of performing, Thornetta has electrified audiences all over the world, and in pop culture. Her songs have been featured on The Sopranos, Osmosis Jones, and Xena Warrior Princess. Often dubbed the Princess of Blues in the 2000s, the Detroit Music Awards crowned her Detroit’s Queen of the Blues in 2015.

Closing out this season of PCL Blues at Arts Commons on April 5 & 6, Thornetta is a commanding presence, with a melodic and smooth style that’s sure to keep you wanting more.
