Arts Commons Presents: National Geographic Live:

Building the Photo Ark with Joel Sartore

CALGARY – Arts Commons Presents welcomes esteemed photographer and veteran National Geographic Live explorer Joel Sartore with Building the Photo Ark on March 15 & 16, 2020 in the Jack Singer Concert Hall.

Joel Sartore is on a mission to capture portraits of all of the world’s species before they disappear, from the tiniest frog, to the most majestic elephant.  The largest photo archive of its kind, the Photo Ark Project is over 9,000 images and counting.

Creating a photo archive of this magnitude has had its up and downs, and more than a few comical mishaps. Fortunately, there’s no one better suited to the job then photographer, speaker, author, teacher, and 20-year contributor to National Geographic magazine, Joel Sartore. Joel’s assignments have taken him to every continent and to the world’s most beautiful and challenging environments, from the High Arctic to the Antarctic.

Join Arts Commons Presents and National Geographic Live at the Jack Singer Concert Hall as Joel shares his stories, encounters, and stunning images of the amazingly varied animal world.
