Arts Commons Presents: Unique Blues Sound Comes to Calgary with Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

CALGARY – It’s not often you hear the organ as part of a blues trio, and the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio blends each element of their sound for perfect auditory chemistry.

An infectious blend of jazz, soul, rhythm & blues, and just a bit of rock ’n’ roll, Delvon Lamarr sweeps you along with his completely unique sound. Since their release of their debut album, Close But No Cigar, they’ve toured up and down North America, and across Europe.

Delvon Lamarr was originally a trumpet and drums player, but when he was 22 years old, a chance encounter lead him to try the organ keys.  “I ended up getting a call to play drums with organist Joe Doria,” says Lamarr. “I asked Joe if I could play the organ and he said, ‘Yeah, if you can.’ So I sat down and we played a blues and I played the organ like I’ve been playing it all along. Pedals and all.”
