Arts Commons Presents:

Sweet, Scat-Singing, Double GRAMMY nominee Jazzmeia Horn

CALGARY – Jazzmeia Horn is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in jazz – and not just because it’s literally part of her name. She’s taken top place in the vaunted Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, and went viral after opening the 60th GRAMMY Award Ceremony with a sensational medley of scat-singing and style-hopping vocals. She even scored a second GRAMMY Award nomination for her latest album Love and Liberation

Jazzmeia Horn has received praise from fans, critics, and artists alike, including the late and great Jon Hendricks who said, “Jazzmeia has one of the best voices I've heard in over 40 years." Horn has been praised by critics for her thrilling sense of presence and deft balance between mid-century jazz and contemporary neo-soul.

Catch this star on the rise at the Jack Singer Concert Hall on March 26, 2020 as part of the TD Jazz music series.
