Arts education took centre stage on Thursday, September 28 as Arts ReimaginED kicked off the season of arts education in alignment with Alberta Culture Days. Eight classes and over 200 students took part in eight different workshops scattered throughout the building, learning everything from painting to Bollywood dance. Teachers were able to engage directly with teaching artists, both learning through hands-on experience and crafting the perfect learning environment.
In a 2022 Benchmark survey, it was discovered at teachers and teaching artists in Alberta recognized the value of arts education, but needed more support in bringing arts education opportunities to their students - and Arts ReimaginED was born. In its pilot year, it delivered arts education experiences to 17 schools and thousands of students. The feedback? Calgary wanted more!

After this September kickoff, Arts Commons will share a season of arts education workshops, professional development sessions, and events, culminating in May with a month of concentrated activities open to parents, teachers, and students of all ages.
